Codon notation!

In case anyone is confused about this:

When you get a mutation in an exon that is listed as just "Codon XX (Y to Z)"...

And in this Codon XX there are two Ys, so you are wondering which of the two it could be...

As in "Codon 26 (G to A)" when Codon 26 is GAG...

Take a look at the beautiful genetic code and notice that it is most likely that the G in the 3rd position would result in the same amino acid, in other words, the same effect. Therefore they must be referring to the G in the first position.
